Simeon Playford Questionnaire
We recently asked Simeon, one of our team members, a few questions about his yfcone experience. Read the full questionnaire here …
1) How did your relationship grow/develop/change during the year?
I found my relationship with God has changed greatly over the last year. When I first came to YFC I wasn’t in a very good place with God, but this year has changed that. I’m so much closer and much more tuned into God. I’m able to talk to him about so much more - its awesome.
2) How did you find raising personal support for the year and what advice would you pass onto anyone thinking of applying to yfcone?
At first I found personal support a bit overwhelming - how do you raise £3000? But God so helped me out in this area, through 2 or 3 fund raising events, I had all my money at the start of the year. It was such assurance that I was in the right place. I think the best way of raising funds though, is by asking people to sponsor you monthly. Its more affordable for them, you get a regular income and they will then remember to pray for you every time they send a cheque off.
3) What types of things were you involved with last year?
Last year I was part of the touring band TVB, we spent time in schools, youth clubs and churches communicating the gospel through music. We were able to reach thousands of young people every week. It was a great opportunity to grow by teaching lessons to all ages. It really made me think about what I believe and why I believe it. I was also able to grow in my technical skills and mixing a band every day made me improve so much.
4) What are you doing now and what do you plan to do next?
At the moment I am part of a band in Chelmsford called Outcry (while part of the Academy), we work in schools across Chelmsford sharing our faith. I’ve joined a church called CGC in Chelmsford, I’m growing even more. Not sure what the future holds but definitely something sound related.
