Summer trip to Annecy, France

Cost: £650 (includes preparation weekend, 8-10th April 2011)

What will I be doing?
On the morning of Friday 1st July we will fly to Geneva before taking a short drive to Annecy. We will have the afternoon to settle in before meeting with local young people from the churches of Annecy and the surrounding area for the evening. The first weekend we will be involved in a personal evangelism training course before working in the community running sports projects. During the ten days we will be there, you will be involved in the following activities.
• Using sport to communicate sporting values with local young people from Annecy.
• Getting alongside young people from Annecy showing them love, friendship and respect.
• Encouraging French young people in their faith.
• Be part of an evangelism training weekend.
• Serving the churches of Annecy.
• Taking part in ministry sessions, worship and relational evangelism.
• Enjoy some sightseeing opportunities.
After a final weekend spent with the local churches we will return to Bristol airport on Monday 11th July.

Who will I be going with?
You will be in a team of 6-8 people who are Christians between the ages of 16-25. The team will be led by experienced youth workers from Cheltenham YFC. Whilst in Annecy the team will be working with volunteers and young people from Savoie Jeunesse Pour Christ (YFC from the Annecy region) giving you a chance to work in a multinational team.

How much do I have to raise?
The trip will cost £650. This includes travel, food, accommodation, insurance and training. You will also need to provide your own personal spending money. We will help you to raise the cost of the trip.

What about preparation before and debriefing?
There will be a training weekend from 8-10th April in Rugby. The weekend will give you a chance to meet other young people going on summer missions to different countries and where you will have training on cross cultural issues, information on the location, medical advice and other practical issues besides having time for worship and prayer. There will be a further training day before departure held in the Cheltenham area. In September a debrief day will be held in the Midlands area.
