Summer Trip to Tanzania 2011
When? Thurs 14 – Wed 27 July 2011
Where? Kilimatinde, Tanzania.
How much? £1900
Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world. It is home to some of the world’s most wonderful, grateful and joyful people. It is also amazingly beautiful!

What will I be doing?
You will arrive and go straight to a tropical beach to spend the day relaxing and recovering from the overnight flight. The following day will be spent travelling through the country to Kilimatinde in the Rift Valley. The first day at the project is a Sunday so we will go to the local church and then have a tour of the hospital and take a walk to an amazing view point.
The next week will be spent doing building and renovating work for the maternity ward of Kilimatinde hospital. There will also be the opportunity to visit a nursery to play games with and educate the children. We will be working with local people during our time at Kilimatinde and there will be plenty of time to play football with locals in the late afternoons.
Once the renovation project is completed we travel again, this time to safari where we will spend 24 hours in luxury and on game drives! We will also have a chance to shop at local markets to get souvenirs.
Who will I go with?
This trip is with Durham Youth for Christ and you will be joining young people from Durham and Bristol to make up a team of 12 young people plus 4 leaders. The majority of the team will be marginalised young people between the ages of 16-20 years old.
How much do I have to raise?
The trip will cost £1900. This includes your flight, travel in country, food, accommodation, training, health check, a beach day trip, a 24hr safari and a contribution to project costs in country. Vaccination costs, travel to the preparation weekend (April 8th-10th) and malaria tablets are not included. You are responsible for bringing your own spending money for souvenirs and thank you gifts. A deposit of £150 is due with your application form and subsequent payments are made in instalments, allowing you time to raise your funds.
