The Academy

Passionate about youth work and have some experience in youth ministry?  Looking for some advanced training to further your knowledge and experience?  Yes! Then look no further.

The Academy is an opportunity to take your skills to the next level. You will receive personally-tailored training from some of the country‘s leading youthworkers and evangelists. Your programme will be specific to your calling and you may have the chance to be coached in leading a team. If you’re in your second year with yfcone or you have sufficient previous experience then The Academy could be for you!!!!

Whether you want to be a schools-worker, church-based youthworker, detached worker, evangelist, lead worshipper, sports co-ordinator or creative arts co-ordinator, using the skills and experience of the yfcone staff, we can tailor make training package for you.

Here are a few examples of how it can work:

1.    Having completed a year with yfcone (or a similar programme), you may feel a long term calling into a specific field of youth work( e.g. schools work, sports ministry)  As well as the taking part in the excellent Academy training throughout the year, you will also gain more experience in your specific choice of youthwork.  We can also provide you with a mentor who is highly skilled in this field.  With possible options to lead teams and opportunitites to visit other youth work centres, this option will look at broadening your horizons and equip you for a future in youth ministry.

2.    Feeling a calling into youth proclamation evangelism, we can provide you with a wealth of training and experience.  As well as the fantastic Academy training, you will be given many opportunties to speak to youth audiences in a variety of settings.  You will be linked to a Youth for Christ evangelist who will mentor you and evaluate your progress as you continue throughout the year.  As well as all of this, you will be linked to a youth work centre were you will gain valuable experience in regular and relational youthwork.

3.     After working for your church for a year, you see the need for a youthworker but would like further training, guidance and support if you were to try and take on the role.  YFC aim to support full time volunteers who are working in churches by making the Academy training and support available to them.  You will gain all the benefits of being part of the Academy programme as well as the bigger yfcone team.
