Offender Outreach Team
The Offenders Outreach Team exist to deliver Reflex outreach programmes to young offenders in custody throughout the UK . The team is made up of professional youth workers and yfcone volunteers. The teams will be made up of 4-6 people each with individual and team responsibilities.
As part of the Offenders Outreach Team you will receive official residential training in prisons work, outreach and theology at yfcone’s Evangelism Training Conference. This training is followed up with National conferences in January, March and July as well as complimentary Reflex training and retreats throughout the year.
The team’s will be based in the NW, NE, SE and London. All of the team members will be hosted in homes of local families or in a volunteer house of five.
The main areas of work for the team will be
• Labyrinth – A one day project run in Young Offenders Institutes (YOI’s) allowing participants an opportunity to experience God and reflect upon their self worth and place within society in a practical way.
• Restorative Justice – A 10 week course designed to let young offenders reflect on how their actions affect others and restore a meaningful relationship with the victims of their crime.
• U Choose – in a prison youth club setting the young offenders will be given the chance to run their own practical scheme’s of work and gain points towards nationally recognised accreditations.
• Alpha, Mettle and Sunday Services – The Offenders Outreach team will assist the existing full time outreach workers in delivering mentoring, teaching and Sunday Services
• Detached – The team will have the opportunity to get involved with detached work going on in various prisons building long term relationships with offenders and being a positive role model in their lives
On top of all this, we are looking for individuals within the team who are capable of expressing themselves through art as we develop our new creative industries project. Team members will also be offered the opportunity to lead projects and gain leadership training.
