YFC ONE TRAINING

yfc one offers a year of intensive training, both 'on the job' and via structured training sessions. The structured training takes place throughout the year with the aims of supporting, challenging, inspiring and equipping both your own personal walk with God and your youth work at your placement. You will also work alongside experienced youth workers, who will nurture and develop your gifts. As well as this, you will have a mentor during the year and a YFC staff member on hand for pastoral care and professional development.

Usually all of the yfc one volunteers from the various teams and YFC centres gather together for this training, held at various locations in the Midlands. It is a time we all look forward to, to share what God has been doing in our lives, to worship, learn, pray, laugh, cry, chill out and have fun together.

Here is a brief outline of what we offer during the year for our volunteers. Click on the headings for a more detailed look at each of the events.

ETC - The Evangelism Training Conference is the initial two week training programme for all national yfc one volunteers. It is the biggest event in the yfc one training calender and it is there so that you will get to know your team, yfc one staff, and the vision of ethos of YFC. This training will equip you to carry out the work that you will be doing at your placement as well as set the foundations for your discipleship journey this year.

Engage - yfc one Engage training aims to enhance your abilities as a  professional and creative youth worker and expand your skills portfolio. Usually held at YFC Head Office, they are held over a period of 24 hours, with a sleepover and chill out time together in the evening. Consisting of six units spread throughout the year, you have the opportunity to gain a qualification in youth work which could enable you to step in to degree level study after your year out.

YFC Conference - The British Youth for Christ Conference takes place straight after New Year. The conference gathers together 400 members of YFC staff and volunteers for a time of refreshing and envisioning for the year ahead. There are celebrations and seminars as well as times to relax. All yfc one volunteers begin together on the first day and you are then free to explore and choose your own seminars according to the programme.

Mid Year Retreat - This one week retreat comes in the middle of the year and aims to be a time of refreshment and reflection. With celebrations, seminars, prayer and social times, it provides time and space to look back on all you have learnt and achieved during your time so far with yfc one, and guidance as you look forward to what is still to come.

End Of Year Bash - To thank you for all your hard work throughout the year, and to provide an opportunity to share what God has done in your placement, we take you away for an end of year retreat and party. The location and activities will be a surprise until a few weeks before.

Specialist Training - Some of our specialist teams offer special training to go alongside the training you will receive as yfc one volunteer. Those on the drama, media, sports teams and advanced youth work teams will all receive specialist training. To find out which teams receive training, and what that training is, click on the link.
